Butler Kicks Off Spring Football Practice
Butler will begin its 2011 football bid this week with the first of 15 spring practices on Thursday, March 24. The Bulldogs will have three practices in the first week and then four practices for three straight weeks, concluding with the annual Blue-White Spring Game on April 16.

Butler Places 63 On PFL Academic Honor Roll
The Pioneer Football League announced that a record 439 football student-athletes were named to the league’s Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2010 semester, and a school-record 63 of those honorees were from Butler. The Bulldogs had the second-highest total of players honored among the 10 PFL institutions.

Four Athletes, One Team Named To Butler Hall of Fame
Four former student-athletes and the first Butler football team to advance to the NCAA playoffs have been selected for induction into the Butler University Athletics Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Induction Class of 2011 will be introduced during Butler’s final regular season men’s basketball game against Loyola on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Seven Butler Football Players Named Academic All-PFL
Seven Butler football players have been named to the 18th annual Academic All-PFL team, announced by the Pioneer Football League on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The Bulldogs had four players named to the first team on the academic honor squad and three players chosen second team.

Ridley, Kobli, Heeter Earn Top Butler Football Awards
Senior Matt Kobli, sophomore Jordan Ridley and freshman Trae Heeter earned Butler football Most Valuable Player awards for the 2010 season. The three MVP’s were among a host of players honored at the team’s annual season-ending awards banquet on Sunday, Jan. 23.

Matt Walker Named Head Coach At UW-River Falls
Matt Walker, who spent last season as tight ends coach for the Butler football team, has been named head football coach at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. It’s the second head coaching appointment for the 33-year-old coach.

Jordan Ridley Named First Team All-PFL
Butler sophomore Jordan Ridley was named first team and 10 other Bulldogs earned second team or honorable mention recognition on the 2010 All-Pioneer Football League Team, released by the league office. The All-PFL team was chosen by a vote of league coaches.

Butler Rally Comes Up Short At Drake
Butler’s late comeback attempt at Drake was stopped in the final minute, and the host squad escaped with a 10-7 victory in a Pioneer Football League game at Drake Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 13 The season-ending setback left Butler with a 4-7 overall record and a 2-6 PFL mark.

Butler Falls At Home To League-Leading Jacksonville
Butler held league-leading Jacksonville more than 20 points below its season scoring average, but still came up on the short end of a 24-16 final score in a Pioneer Football League game at the Butler Bowl on Saturday. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 4-6 on the season and 2-5 in the PFL with one game remaining.

The Butler football team got out to a 34-0 halftime lead and rolled to a 48-0 road win at Valparaiso. It was the Bulldogs' first shutout since 1998.

Morehead State marched 55 yards in the final minute and Rainer Duzan kicked a game-winning field goal with 11 seconds remaining to lift the visiting Eagles to a 21-20 victory over Butler in a Pioneer Football League game at the Butler Bowl on Saturday (Oct. 23).

For the second time in three years, Butler will face Morehead State in its annual Homecoming contest. The two Pioneer Football League teams will square off at the Butler Bowl at 1 p.m. (ET) on Saturday (Oct. 23), and the Bulldogs are hoping for a repeat performance against the Eagles.

Nick Tabacca, who served the past three seasons on the football staff at Defiance College, has been named an assistant football coach at Butler University.
