Matt Walker Named Head Coach At UW-River Falls

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Matt Walker, who spent last season as tight ends coach for the Butler football team, has been named head football coach at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  It’s the second head coaching appointment for the 33-year-old coach.

Walker, who joined the Bulldogs for the 2010 season, formerly served as head coach at DePauw, 2006-09.  During his time at DePauw, the Tigers compiled a 22-8 record and placed runner-up in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2007 and 2008.  He also served as an assistant coach at DePauw from 2000 to 2005.

A two-sport athlete in football and baseball as an undergraduate, Walker earned his degree from DePauw in 1999.  He earned a master’s degree at Indiana State in 2001.

Walker becomes the 20th head football coach in UW-River Falls history.  He replaced former head coach John O’Grady, who retired after the 2010 season.
