Jordan Ridley Earns Preseason All-America Honor

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler linebacker Jordan Ridley has been named to the 2012 FCS Senior Scout Bowl Preseason All-America Football Team, announced by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL).  The Butler senior was named to the North Defense First Team.

Ridley, who has led the Pioneer Football League in tackles for two consecutive seasons, was one of four PFL players named on the first team.  Also selected were wide receiver Donte Sawyer of Morehead State, defensive back Steth Monroe of Campbell and defensive lineman Brandon Coleman of Drake.  Wide receiver Lanny Funsten of Davidson, tight end Anthony Calcagni of Marist, quarterback Zach Lewis of Morehead State and tight end Quentin Davis of Jacksonville earned second team recognition of the preseason All-America squad.

A two-time, first team All-PFL selection, Ridley has racked up 270 tackles over the past two seasons.  He was named Butler's Defensive Player of the Year last season, after leading the Bulldogs and ranking fifth in the NCAA Division I FCS with 140 tackles.  He posted the PFL's top two single game totals for tackles with a career-high 20 stops against Valparaiso and 19 against Campbell, and he had at least 10 tackles in eight of Butler's 11 games.

The CDFL is a football organization devoted to providing skill development and game playing opportunities for post high school and post college players.  The organization sponsors several Senior collegiate level All-Star games, including the FCS Senior Scout Bowl.  This year's FCS Senior Scout Bowl will be held in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Saturday, December 15.

Only graduating seniors in 2013 are eligible for the 2012 FCS Senior Scout Bowl Preseason All-America Football Team.
