Butler Wins Gridiron Classic
Quarterback Andrew Huck scored three touchdowns to lead host Butler to a 28-23 victory over Central Connecticut State in the fourth Girdiron Classic played at the Butler Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 5. It was the first post-season victory for the Bulldogs and capped a school-record 11-1 campaign.

Butler Extends Contract Of Football Coach Jeff Voris
Butler football coach Jeff Voris has been honored for his teams performance this year, and now he has been rewarded. The fourth-year head coach has received a contract extension through the 2013-14 school year.

Bulldogs Host Central Connecticut In Gridiron Classic
Butler, co-champion of the Pioneer Football League, will play its first postseason football game in nearly two decades when it hosts Northeast Conference champ Central Connecticut State in the fourth annual Gridiron Classic on Saturday, Dec. 5. The game is scheduled for 12 noon at the Butler Bowl.

Jeff Voris Named PFL Coach Of The Year
Head coach Jeff Voris was selected as the Pioneer Football League Coach of the Year and Butler had 14 players earn All-League recognition on the 17th All-PFL Team, released by the league office on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 24). All selections were made by a vote of league coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Grant Hunter Named Football Academic All-America
Butler defensive end Grant Hunter, an outstanding student and one of the top defensive linemen in the Pioneer Football League has been named second team on the 2009 ESPN The Magazine University Division Academic All-America Football Team, chosen by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). He was among 49 players selected first or second team on the national honor squad.

Gridiron Classic Causes Butler Schedule Adjustments
Butler fans will be treated to a smorgasbord of Bulldogs athletics on Saturday, Dec. 5. The addition of the 2009 Gridiron Classic, pitting Pioneer Football League champion Butler against Northeast Conference champion Central Connecticut State, has set the stage for a Butler triple-header, featuring football, womens basketball and mens basketball.

For the second time this year, Butler placekicker David Lang helped win a game with a field goal on the final play of the contest. And for the second time this year, he has been named Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week.
