Football Spring Game Set For April 21

March 28, 2007

Butler's football squad will conclude four weeks of spring practice with the annual Blue-White Game on Saturday, April 21. The scrimmage game is slated for 10 a.m. (EDT) in the Butler Bowl.

The Bulldogs are preparing for their second season under head coach Jeff Voris. Butler returns 15 of 22 starters from last fall, including All-Pioneer Football League performers Chris Marzotto (DE), Mike Marzotto (LB), Nate Miller (WR) and Jordan Quiroz (PK). Mike Marzotto led the Bulldogs in tackles in 2006 and was named the team's Defensive Most Valuable Player. Chris Marzotto led the team in tackles for loss and quarterback sacks, and he was named first team All-PFL for the second consecutive year. Miller was Butler's leading pass catcher, while Quiroz led the team in scoring.

Also back is quarterback T. J. Brown, who was named Butler's Offensive MVP after passing for 1,572 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2006. Brown completed 158 of 312 passes in 10 games for the Bulldogs.

"It's great to be back on the practice field with this group," stated Voris. "They truly enjoy playing the game and understand what it means to be part of a team. This spring marks the first time in quite awhile that our players will be able to play for the same coordinators and within the same schemes. This familiarity with our system will lead to the continued development of our program."
