Bulldogs Finish 13th At Florida Tournament
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- The Butler men’s golf team squared
off against a field dominated by southern schools and wound up
placing 13th at the Don Benbow Invitational at Jacksonville Beach
Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, March 8-9. Laval won the
15-team tournament, hosted by the Bulldogs.
Freshman Andrew Wegeng led Butler in the 36-hole tournament with
rounds of 77 and 76 for a two-day total of 153. He tied for
37th overall in the individual competition.
Freshman Matt Vogt finished in a tie for 62nd place with rounds of
82 and 77 (159). Senior Kyle Thomas and sophomore Jordan Mack
tied for 70th at 161, while junior Ryan Wegeng tied for 82nd place
with a final total of 168. Thomas posted rounds of 81 and 80,
while Mack had the team’s best first-day score with a 76,
before finishing with an
85. Ryan Wegeng shot an
87 in the first round and closed with an 81.
Freshman Colin Reenan tied teammates Thomas and Mack with a 161,
while playing as a non-scoring individual. Reenan shot a 79
on the first day and an 82 on the second day.
The Bulldogs will return to the northern climate to host Green Bay
in a dual meet on Saturday, March 20.
