Butler Places 12th At Adidas Hoosier Invitational
BLOOMINGTON, IND. -- Freshman Andrew Wegeng recorded a
“Top 15” individual finish and Butler wound up 12th in
the team competition at the 54-hole adidas Hoosier Invitational,
which concluded on Sunday, April 4. Host Indiana University
won the 19-team tournament.
Wegeng shot back-to-back rounds of two-over-par 73 on the opening
day and then closed with a one-over-par 72 for a three-round total
of 218. He wound up in a tie for 11th place in the
competition, just two strokes out of a tie for seventh place.
Indiana’s Chase Wright captured medalist honors with a final
total of nine-under-par 204.
Senior Kyle Thomas finished second for the Bulldogs and tied for
45th overall with a 54-hole total of 227 (71-79-77), while freshman
Matt Vogt came in one stroke back in a tie for 47th place with a
228 (81-70-77). Vogt’s second round 70 was the best
score recorded by a Butler player in the tournament.
Sophomores Alex Walker and Jordan Mack rounded out Butler’s
five-player scoring team. Walker tied for 70th with a 236
(83-76-77), while Mack tied for 78th two strokes back at 238
(79-80-79).
