Butler Men Finish Second At Big Four Meet
CARMEL, IND. -- Butler had three of the “Top 5”
individuals, but still came up two strokes shy of team champ DePauw
at the Big Four Meet held at Crooked Stick Golf Club on Thursday
(April 8). The Bulldogs finished ahead of Hanover and Wabash
in the four-team competition.
Junior Ryan Wegeng and freshmen Andrew Wegeng and Matt Vogt all
tied for third place with a score of eight-over-par 79. Ryan
Wegeng shot a 39 on the front nine and closed with a 40, while his
brother, Andrew, fired a 37 on the front and a 42 on the
back. Vogt posted a 41 over the first nine holes and
then finished with a 38 on the final nine.
Butler’s Colin Reenan came in ninth with an 84, while Jordan
Mack tied for 10th with an 85. Sophomore Ben Nichele, playing
as a non-scoring individual, placed 22nd with a 93.
DePauw’s Chase King captured medalist honors with a
two-over-par 73, while his teammate, Nick Reardon, finished
runner-up with a 74.
DePauw captured the team title with a score of 319, two shots
better than Butler. Hanover finished with a 334 and Wabash
posted a 344.
