Ryan Wegeng Leads Butler At Benbow Invitational
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Senior Ryan Wegeng shot a four-over-par
146 and posted a “Top 10” individual finish to lead
Butler in the 36-hole Don Benbow Invitational, which concluded at
the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club on Tuesday, March 15. The
Bulldogs finished ninth in the team competition.
Wegeng shot back-to-back rounds of 73 to tie for seventh place in
the tournament. He finished three strokes ahead of his
brother, Andrew, who posted rounds of 76 and 73.
Sophomore Alex Walker (77-81) finished with a 36-hole total of 158,
while sophomore Matt Vitale (83-78) carded a 161. Sophomore
Colin Reenan (83-80) posted a two-day total of 163 and junior Ben
Nichele (82-83) finished with a 165.
Appalachian State edged IUPUI for the team title in the 11-team
meet. IUPUI freshman Juan Diego Plasencia captured medalist
honors with a 36-hole total of one-over-par 143.
