Ryan Wegeng Closes Strong Week In Florida
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Senior Ryan Wegeng wrapped up a solid,
week-long trip to Florida with a tie for sixth place at the
four-team competition hosted by Butler at Windsor Park Golf Club in
Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday and Thursday (March 16-17).
The Bulldogs finished fourth in the team competition.
Wegeng opened the two-day meet with a one-over-par 73, his third 73
of the Bulldogs’ spring break trip. He then closed with
an 82 for a 36-hole total of 155 and a “Top 10”
individual finish. Wegeng shot 76 or better in four of his
five Florida rounds.
Travis Kreiter of Bradley claimed medalist honors with rounds of 75
and 73 (148).
Sophomore Alex Walker posted back-to-back rounds of 79 (158) to
finish second on the team in scoring, while sophomore Andrew Wegeng
shot a two-day total of 160 (77-83). Sophomore Colin Reenan
shot a 166 (80-86), junior Ben Nichele carded a 168 (89-79) and
sophomore Matt Vitale finished with a 169 (86-83).
Green Bay won the four-team competition with a two-day score of
621, while Bradley finished runner-up with a 626. Eastern
Illinois had a team score of 631 and Butler finished with a total
of 636.
