Butler Finishes Tenth At Hoosier Invitational
BLOOMINGTON, IND. -- Senior Ryan Wegeng claimed a “Top
10” individual place and helped lead Butler to a 10th place
team finish at the adidas Hoosier Invitational, which concluded at
the Indiana University Golf Course on Sunday, April 10. Host
Indiana won the 15-team meet.
Wegeng, who shot a 67 in the opening round on Saturday (April 9),
posted back-to-back rounds of 73 on the final day of the tournament
to finish at even-par 213. He wound up in a four-way tie for
ninth place with Michael Sainz of Evansville, Michael Powell of
IUPUI, and Kyle Perry of Indiana.
Butler teammates Andrew Wegeng and Matt Vitale shared 37th place in
the tournament with identical scores of 10-over-par 223.
Andrew Wegeng had a 72 in the opening round and then finished with
rounds of 76 and 75, while Vitale shot a first-day 73 and then
posted back-to-back rounds of 75.
Junior Alex Walker tied for 43rd place with a 54-hole total of 225
(73-77-75), while sophomore Colin Reenan tied for 63rd at 230
(72-81-77).
Butler was tied for third after posting a team score of even-par
284 in the opening round, but the Bulldogs slipped to 301 in the
second round. A final round 298 gave the Bulldogs a 54-hole
total of 883, one stroke behind George Washington in ninth
place.
