Butler Finishes 12th At Kiawah Island Intercollegiate
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.. -- Sophomore Andrew Wegeng carded a
team-best, 54-hole total of 233 and Butler placed 12th in the team
competition at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, which wrapped up
at Turtle Point Golf Course on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Indiana won
the 14-team event in South Carolina.
Wegeng started strongly on Monday (Nov. 1) with a five-over-par 77
in the opening round and a three-over-par 75 in the second
round. He slipped to an 81 in the final round and wound up
tied for 32nd place in the tournament.
Senior Ryan Wegeng rebounded from an opening-round 87 with a 76 in
the second round and a 79 in the final round to tie for 53rd place
with a final total of 242. Sophomore Matt Vitale placed 60th
at 245 (86-79-80) and freshman Matt Vogt came in 62nd with a 247
(78-82-87). Junior Jordan Mack finished fifth on the team and
tied for 69th overall with a 251 (92-79-80).
Butler, 13th after shooting a team score of 328 in the opening
round, climbed to 12th place in the second round with a score of
309. The Bulldogs shot a 320 in the final round for a 54-hole
score of 957.
The Kiawah Island Intercollegiate was Butler’s final fall
tournament.
