National Coaches Recognize Four Butler Teams
Four Butler teams have earned recognition for academic success from their respective national coaching associations. The Bulldogs were cited for academic performance in the sports of men’s and women’s track and field, men’s golf and women’s swimming.

Andrew Wegeng Earns Golf Academic Recognition
Butler golfer Andrew Wegeng has been a named 2011-12 Division I Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association. The NGCA honored a total of 146 Division I male golfers for academic excellence.

Ronald Nored, Michele Nash Chosen Top Butler Athletes
Seniors Ronald Nored, who etched his name in the Butler basketball record book, and Michele Nash, who helped lead Butler to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship, have been selected as Butler’s Most Outstanding Athletes for 2011-12. The two were chosen by a vote of Butler’s athletic administration from a pool of athletes nominated by Butler coaches.

Butler Finishes Sixth At League Championship
Junior Andrew Wegeng tied for second in the individual competition and Butler finished sixth in the team race at the 2012 Horizon League Men’s Golf Championship, which wrapped up at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Florida on Sunday, April 29.

Butler shot the second-best team score of the second round of 2012 Horizon League Men’s Golf Championship at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort on Saturday, April 28, but only climbed slightly in the team competition. The Bulldogs will enter the final round in sixth place in the championship.

Bulldogs End Opening Round Tied For Sixth
Butler junior Andrew Wegeng climbed into contention in the individual competition on the first day of 2012 Horizon League Men’s Golf Championship at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort on Friday, April 27. Butler ended the opening round in a tie for sixth place in the team competition.

Andrew Wegeng Named All-Horizon League
Butler junior Andrew Wegeng was one of eight athletes honored on the 2011-12 Horizon League Men’s Golf All-League Team. The All-League squad was announced at the league’s pre-tournament banquet in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida, on Thursday, April 26.

Bulldogs Place Tenth At Yestingsmeier Invitational
Junior Andrew Wegeng finished among the top individuals in the tournament and Butler placed 10th in the team competition at the 2012 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, which concluded at Delaware Country Club on Sunday, April 22. The Bulldogs were one of 15 teams in the 54-hole tournament hosted by Ball State.

Bulldogs Finish Tenth At Hoosier Invitational
Junior Andrew Wegeng shot a two-over-par 215 to tie for 12th in the individual standings and help Butler to a tenth place team finish at the 54-hole NYX Hoosier Invitational, which wrapped up at the IU Golf Course in Bloomington on Sunday, April 8. Northwestern won the 16-team competition.

Butler Sweeps Big Four Titles
Butler made a clean sweep of the individual titles and captured both the men’s and women’s team championships at the annual Big Four Tournament, held at Crooked Stick Country Club on Thursday, April 5. It was the second straight Big Four crown for both Butler teams.

Bulldogs Place Seventh At Spring Invitational
Butler was unable to match its strong first day performance in the final round and wound up slipping to seventh place in the Butler Spring Invitational, which wrapped up at Prestwick Country Club on Tuesday, March 27. IUPUI came from behind on the final day to capture the team crown.

Junior Andrew Wegeng, who captured medalist honors at the Bulldog Florida Invitational, has been named the Horizon League’s first Men’s Golfer of the Week for 2012 spring season.

Butler Captures Bulldog Florida Invitational
Junior Andrew Wegeng won medalist honors, two other Butler players placed among the top five individuals and the Bulldogs captured the men's title at the inaugural Bulldog Florida Invitational at Windsor Parke Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla. The 36-hole tournament wrapped up on Thursday, March 15.

Junior Andrew Wegeng matched the second best round of the tournament and Butler surged in the final round to grab a fifth place team finish at the 13-team Don Benbow Invitational, which concluded at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla., on Tuesday, March 13.

Bulldogs Place 13th At Kiawah Classic
Junior Andrew Wegeng shot three rounds of 76 or better and helped lead Butler to a 13th place team finish at the 21-team Wendy’s Kiawah Classic golf tournament, which wrapped up at Turtle Point Golf Course on Tuesday (Nov. 1). The tournament was Butler’s final fall competition.

Junior Andrew Wegeng notched a “Top 15” individual finish and Butler claimed ninth place in the men’s final team standings at the 2011 Dayton Fall Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Wegeng Captures Butler Invitational Medalist Honors
Junior Andrew Wegeng followed his school-record performance in the second round with an even-par 70 in the final round and wound up capturing medalist honors at the Butler Fall Golf Invitational. The Bulldogs finished runner-up in the seven-team tournament, which concluded on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Butler will bring its annual fall golf invitational to neighboring Highland Golf and Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4. The men’s tournament field will feature seven collegiate teams, while the women’s field will have nine teams.

Butler shot its best round of the tournament on the final day and wound up in 12th place at the UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational golf tournament, hosted by the University of Kentucky on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17-18. The host Wildcats won the 15-team meet.

Butler placed four golfers among the top 12 individuals and captured the team title at the nine-team Green Bay Invitational, which concluded at the Green Bay Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The win coupled with a first place finish by Butler’s women gave the Bulldogs a sweep of the men’s and women’s crowns.
