Andrew Wegeng Named All-Horizon League

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler junior Andrew Wegeng was one of eight athletes honored on the 2011-12 Horizon League Men’s Golf All-League Team.  The All-League squad was announced at the league’s pre-tournament banquet in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida, on Thursday, April 26.

Wegeng, who leads the Bulldogs in scoring on the season, is Butler’s first All-League performer since 2009, when Kyle Thomas was named to the All-Horizon League squad.

Also named to the All-League squad were Andrew Bailey and Michael Klaric of Cleveland State, Lucas Kim and Simon Reyers of Detroit, Chad Ebert of Green Bay, Alex Cusumano of Loyola and Cody Fixari of Wright State.  Bailey was named league Player of the Year, while Kim was chosen as League Newcomer of the Year.  Wright State’s Pete Samborsky was selected Horizon League Coach of the Year.

The Butler men will begin their quest for the Horizon League Championship on Friday, April 27.  The 54-hole league championship meet will be held at the Mission Inn Resort Club in Florida.
