Butler Men’s Golf Earns Academic Honor

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Butler men’s golf team has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America for outstanding academic performance in 2010-11.  The Bulldogs were one of six teams in the NCAA Division I to receive President’s Special Recognition from the GCAA for compiling a team grade point average of 3.50 or better.

A total of 103 teams from the NCAA Divisions I, II & III, NAIA, and NJCAA Divisions I & II were honored by the GCAA as All-Academic Teams for compiling a team GPA of 3.00 or higher.  The Bulldogs, who had a team GPA of 3.527, were the lone team from Indiana or the Horizon League to receive President’s Special Recognition.

Joining Butler in the elite academic category were Alabama, Brown, DePaul, Missouri and Yale.  DePaul had the highest recorded team GPA at 3.66, and the Blue Demons were recognized as the Division I Academic National Champion.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the grade points earned and hours attempted for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
