Butler Men’s Golf Earns Academic Honor
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Butler men’s golf team has been
recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America for
outstanding academic performance in 2010-11. The Bulldogs
were one of six teams in the NCAA Division I to receive
President’s Special Recognition from the GCAA for compiling a
team grade point average of 3.50 or better.
A total of 103 teams from the NCAA Divisions I, II & III, NAIA,
and NJCAA Divisions I & II were honored by the GCAA as
All-Academic Teams for compiling a team GPA of 3.00 or
higher. The Bulldogs, who had a team GPA of 3.527, were the
lone team from Indiana or the Horizon League to receive
President’s Special Recognition.
Joining Butler in the elite academic category were Alabama, Brown,
DePaul, Missouri and Yale. DePaul had the highest recorded
team GPA at 3.66, and the Blue Demons were recognized as the
Division I Academic National Champion.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or
university must submit the grade points earned and hours attempted
for each player on its official squad list for the academic
year.
