Butler Men Capture Green Bay Invitational Title

GREEN BAY, WIS. -- Butler placed four golfers among the top 12 individuals and captured the team title at the nine-team Green Bay Invitational, which concluded at the Green Bay Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 13.  The win coupled with a first place finish by Butler's women gave the Bulldogs a sweep of the men's and women's crowns.

Junior Andrew Wegeng paced Butler with a tie for sixth in the final individual standings.  He shot an opening-round, even-par 72 and then closed with a 79 for a 36-hole total of 151.  Freshman Andrew Eiler also posted a "Top 10" finish with rounds of 73 and 79.  His final score of 152 left him in a tie for eighth place.

Senior Jordan Mack and junior Colin Reenan tied for 12th in the final standings with two-round scores of 154.  Mack carded a 76 on the first day and then finished with a 78, while Reenan posted scores of 79 and 75.  Butler's fifth golfer, junior Matt Vitale, followed an opening round 84 with a 74, Butler's best final round score.  He tied for 22nd.

Freshman Logan Hold, playing as a non-scoring individual finished in a tie for 35th place with scores of 84 and 78.

The Bulldogs, who were tied for second after first round play, shot the tournament's best final round with a team score of 306 to grab the title.  Butler carded a 300 in the first round for a 36-hole score of 606.  St. Ambrose finished runner-up, two strokes back, while North Dakota State came in third with a 613.
