Bulldogs Place Seventh At Spring Invitational
AVON, IND. -- Butler was unable to match its strong first day performance in the final round and wound up slipping to seventh place in the Butler Spring Invitational, which wrapped up at Prestwick Country Club on Tuesday, March 27. IUPUI came from behind on the final day to capture the team crown.
Senior Alex Walker (right) and junior Colin Reenan led the Bulldogs with identical scores of 151. Walker, who was tied for fourth after shooting a 73 in the opening round, slipped to 78 on the final day, while Reenan followed his first round 75 with a 76 on the closing day. The two Butler players tied for 15th in the individual standings.
Junior Andrew Wegeng tied for 24th with rounds of 75 and 79 (154), while senior Jordan Mack tied for 34th with scores of 76 and 81 (157). Freshman Andrew Eiler tied for 51st with back-to-back rounds of 81 (162).
Freshman Logan Holt paced Butler's non-scoring individuals with back-to-back rounds of 79 (158), good for a tie for 38th. Junior Matt Vitale tied for 47th with rounds of 83 and 78 (161), while freshman Clark Etheridge tied for 61st with rounds of 84 and 80 (164).
Butler shot a sparkling 299 in the opening round and stood second heading into the final day. But the Bulldogs slipped to 314 in the final round.
