Butler Stands Sixth After Two Rounds

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. -- Butler shot the second-best team score of the second round of 2012 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort on Saturday, April 28, but only climbed slightly in the team competition.  The Bulldogs will enter the final round in sixth place in the championship.

Senior Andrew Wegeng, who shot an opening round 74 and was one of five players tied for third place in the individual race on Friday, slipped to a 78 in the second round.  He'll enter the final round in a tie for ninth place in the individual competition.

While Wegeng slid slightly, Butler's other four golfers all carded improved scores in the second round.  Senior Jordan Mack, who had a 78 on the opening day, shot a 75 in the second round to climb into a tie for 12th place.  Freshman Andrew Eiler improved from 82 to 75, and he finished the day in a tie for 25th place.

Senior Alex Walker (above right) went from an 82 in the opening round to a 76 on Saturday, and junior Colin Reenan improved from 81 to 77.  Both players are tied for 27th place.

Butler's team score of 303 trailed only tournament leader Loyola on the second day.  The Ramblers carded a tournament-best 291.
