Butler Finishes Sixth At League Championship
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. -- Junior Andrew Wegeng tied for second in the individual competition and Butler finished sixth in the team race at the 2012 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship, which wrapped up at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Florida on Sunday, April 29.
Wegeng shot an even-par 72 in the final round and climbed into a tie with Cam Fuller of Green Bay and Alex Cusumano of team champ Loyola for second place. Wegeng opened the 54-hole tournament with a 74 and then shot a 78 in the second round. His three-round total of 224 was just two strokes behind medalist Chad Ebert of Green Bay.
Senior Jordan Mack came in second for the Bulldogs and tied for 11th overall with a three-day total of 228. He shot a 75 on the final day. Junior Colin Reenan carded an 80 on the final day and finished 31st with a three-round score of 238.
Freshman Andrew Eiler, who shot an 82 in the final round, tied for 32nd place with a final score of 239, while senior Alex Walker finished with an 82 and tied for 34th place at 240.
Wegeng was the lone Butler player named to the All-Tournament Team.
Butler, coming off a team score of 303 in the second round, posted a final round score of 309. The Bulldogs' three-round total of 927 was three strokes behind Wright State in fifth place.
