Freshman Alex Walker shot an even-par 140 and Butler tied for seventh in the team competition at the North-South Collegiate golf tournament in Jacksonville Florida. The 36-hole tournament at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club concluded on Tuesday, March 11.
Walker, who shot a career-best 68 in the opening round of the 13-team event, posted a 72 on the final day and wound up tied for 14th in the final individual standings. He missed a "Top 10" individual finish by three strokes.
Senior Kevin Sasena shot a team-best, one-under-par 69 in the final round and and finished in a tie for 27th place at 143, while junior Kyle Thomas and senior Elliot Retzlaff both shot 72 in the final round and both finished in a tie for 41st place at 146. Sophomore Ryan Wegeng rounded out Butler's scoring team with a 78 in the final round and a tie for 69th place.
Freshman Jordan Mack, playing as a non-scoring individual, followed his opening round 72 with a 73 and finished in a tie for 36th place.
Florida Gulf Coast won the team title with a 36-hole score of
544, 10 strokes better than runner-up Jacksonville. Butler tied
Flagler College at 575.
