Butler Places Ninth At North-South Intercollegiate

Senior Will Turner shot a seven-over-par 151 and finished in a tie for 18th place in the final individual standings at the North-South Intercollegiate golf tournament hosted by Butler at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla., on Monday and Tuesday, March 13-14. Butler finished ninth in the 11-team tournament won by Flagler College.

Turner carded a three-over-par 75 in the opening round of the tournament and then closed with a 76 on the final day. His 75 was the best single round shot by any member of the Butler team.

Bjorn Karringer of Flager carded rounds of 68 and 73 to capture individual medalist honors, while Stefan Strandlund of Bethune-Cookman and Scott Phegley of Bradley tied for second with 36-hole scores of 144.

Sophomore Michael Amore finished second for the Bulldogs and tied for 34th in the tournament with rounds of 80 and 77, while freshman Kevin Sasena tied for 48th with rounds of 79 and 83. Sophomore Abe Mulvihill came in 50th (80-83) and junior Chris Spitler finished 58th (83-89).
