Butler Finishes Eighth At North-South Intercollegiate

Freshman Kyle Thomas shot a five-over-par 149 and tied for 15th place in the final individual standings and Butler placed eighth in the team standings at the North-South Intercollegiate golf tournament held at Jackson Beach Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla., on Monday and Tuesday, March 12-13. Flager College captured the team championship in the ten-team, 36-hole tournament.

Thomas carded an even-par 72 in the opening round and then shot a 77 in the final round. His first round score was the best round recorded by a Butler player in the tournament. Troy Coker of Bethune-Cookman captured medalist honors with a three-under-par 141. He was one of three golfers to break par for the tournament.

Freshman Isaac Mulvihill came in second for the Bulldogs and tied for 25th overall with a 36-hold score of 152 (77-75). His older brother, junior Abe Mulvihill, tied for 40th at 156 (78-78), while junior Michael Amore tied for 50th at 162 (81-81) with teammate, senior Chris Spitler (76-86). Senior Justin Kime, playing as a non-scoring individual, tied for 17th with a two-day score of 150 (74-76).

Flager finished with a team score of 577 to place two strokes ahead of runner-up Bethune-Cookman. Gonzaga was third at 589.
