Bulldogs Tie For Sixth At UC/UD Invitational

Sophomore Michael Amore tied for 11th place in the final individual standings and Butler tied for sixth in the team race at the UC/UD Men's Collegiate Golf Invitational, hosted jointly by the University of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton on Monday and Tuesday, April 3-4. Otterbein captured the team championship in the nine-squad meet played at Hueston Woods Golf Course.

Amore carded a six-over-par 78 on the final day of competition to go with his opening-round 81. His 36-hole score of 159 placed him in a six-way tie for 11th place, seven strokes behind medalist Zach Sebert of Otterbein. Sebert prevailed in a three-way playoff with Geoff Newman of Cincinnati and Sean Gibson of Toronto.

Senior Will Turner, who was tied for tenth place after the first day with an opening-round 79, slipped to a tie for 22nd place after shooting an 83 in the final round. Freshman Frank Rizzi tied for 30th with rounds of 84 and 82, while freshman Kevin Sasena tied for 33rd with rounds of 84 and 83. Sophomore Abe Mulvihill shot a 92 in the cold and rainy conditions on the first day, but he bounced back with a 76 in the final round to finish in a tie for 35th.

Butler carded a team score of 328 on the first day and then finish with a 319 to tie with Dayton in the final team standings.
