Senior Will Turner tied for 12th in the final individual standings and Butler wound up fifth in the team competition at the UC/UD Intercollegiate golf tournament hosted by Cincinnati and Dayton on Monday and Tuesday, April 4-5. IUPUI won the six-team meet which was played on two different golf courses.
Turner shot a six-over-par 76 in the opening round at Colvernook Country Club in Cincinnati. He closed with an 81 at the Golf Club at Yankee Trace in Dayton. His 36-hole total of 157 was three strokes shy of a top ten finish and nine strokes behind medalist Drew Shafer of IUPUI.
Sophomore Justin Kime came in 17th, one stroke behind Turner. He posted an opening-round 80 in Cincinnati and then finished with a six-over-par 78 in the final round in Dayton. Freshman Abe Mulvihill was two strokes back with rounds of 76 and 84. He tied for 20th.
Rounding out Butler's scoring team were sophomore Chris Spitler and freshman Colin Quinn, both of whom tied for 24th. Spitler carded back-to-back rounds of 81, while Quinn posted a first round score of 82 and finished with an 80.
Cincinnati finished runner-up in the tournament, two strokes behind IUPUI.
