Senior Kevin Sasena tied for 25th in the final individual standings and paced Butler to a 12th place team finish at the adidas Hoosier Invitational, which concluded at the IU Championship Golf Course on Sunday (April 12). Host Indiana won the 16-team tournament.
Sasena carded a 54-hole total of 222 to lead the Bulldogs. He shot a 76 in the opening round, before coming back with a one-under-par 70 in the second round. The fourth-year golfer added another 76 in the final round. His second-round total was Butler's lone sub-par effort in the tournament.
Junior Kyle Thomas finished 33rd with a three-round total of 224 (76-74-74), while senior Elliot Retzlaff posted a 230 (77-72-81) and tied for 50th. Freshman Alex Walker tied for 56th with a final score of 231 (79-76-76) and sophomore Ryan Wegeng came in 85th with a 250 (84-83-83).
Jorge Campillo of Indiana captured medalist honors in the
tournament with score of 10-under-par 203. He carded three
consecutive sub-par rounds, posting a 68 in the first and third
rounds and a 67 in the second.
