Butler Places Tenth At UD Spring Invitational

Freshman Kyle Thomas notched a fourth place individual finish and Butler wound up tenth in the team standings at the UD Spring Invitational held at the NCR South Course in Dayton, Ohio, on Monday and Tuesday (April 23-24). UW-Green Bay won the 12-team tournament, while Bowling Green finished runnerup.

Thomas shot an opening round four-over-par 75 and then carded a 78 in the second round. He closed with another 75 to finish with a 54-hole total of 228. His final total was just two strokes shy of tournament medalist John Powers of Bowling Green. Thomas tied for fifth in the tournament with seven birdies.

Freshman Isaac Mulvihill came in second for the Bulldogs and tied for 34th overall with a three-round total of 243 (82-79-82), while junior Michael Amore tied for 48th place with a 248 (83-82-83). Junior Abe Mulvihill tied for 51st place with a final score of 249 (85-78-86) and senior Chris Spitler tied for 62nd place with a 258 (88-83-87).

As a team, the Bulldogs had 16 birdies in the tournament, the seventh-best total in the meet.
