Butler Finishes Fifth At Horizon League Tournament

Senior Justin Kime tied for ninth place in the final individual standings and helped Butler to a fifth place team finish at the 2007 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship, held at Shaker Run Golf Course in Lebanon, Ohio, on Monday and Tuesday (April 30-May 1). Detroit claimed the team title, while UW-Green Bay finished runner-up.
Kime put on a strong closing run to jump into the Top 10. He began the final day in 20th place after shooting rounds of 75 and 80 on the first day of competition. But he closed with a two-over-par 74, the second-best round of the final day, to climb 11 spots in the individual standings.
Freshman Kyle Thomas tied for 13th place in the tournament with rounds of even-par 72, 76 and 82, while junior Abe Mulvihill tied for 16th place with rounds of 76, 78 and 77. Sophomore Frank Rizzi tied for 31st place and freshman Isaac Mulvihill came in 34th.
David Byrne of Detroit captured medalist honors with a 54-hole total of even-par 216. He shot rounds of 74, 67 and 75.
