Butler Places Fourth At Indianapolis Invitational

Junior Michael Amore shot a two-over-par 74 and helped the Butler men's golf team to a fourth place team finish at the season-opening University of Indianapolis Invitational played at Heartland Crossing Golf Course on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The host Greyhounds won the 10-team, 18-hole tournament.

Amore shot a one-under-par 35 on the opening nine holes and then closed with a 39 for his 18-hole total. He wound up in a tie for 12th place. There were a total of 79 golfers competing in the one-day event.

Rounding out Butler's scoring team were freshman Kyle Thomas, who tied for 21st place with a four-over-par 76, senior Chris Spitler and sophomore Graham Summers, both of whom tied for 34th with rounds of 78, and junior Abe Mulvihill, who tied for 46th with an 80. Butler posted a team score of 306, finishing six strokes behind Bethel College in third place.

Butler sophomore Kevin Sasena, playing as a non-scoring individual, shot a three-over-par 75 and finished in a tie for 16th place. Other Butler golfers playing as non-scoring individuals were senior Justin Kime, who tied for 21st place with a 76, junior Michael Poteracki, who tied for 46th with an 80, and junior Colin Quinn and sophomore Elliot Retzlaff, both of whom tied for 53rd with rounds of 81.

Chris Clemens of Indianapolis claimed individual medalist honors with a five-under-par 67.
