Butler Places Seventh At Indianapolis Invitational

Freshman Kevin Sasena shot a one-over-par 73 and senior Will Turner added a 76 to help Butler to a seventh place finish in the 12-team University of Indianapolis Invitational at The Links at Heartland Crossing on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Bulldogs carded a team score of 315 in the 18-hole tournament.

Sasena, playing in his first collegiate tournament, carded a 36 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine to tie for seventh in the final individual standings. Turner, who shot a 39 on the front nine and a 37 coming in, tied for 19th.

Sophomore Abe Mulvihill, playing as a non-scoring individual, had Butler's best round in the tournament. He shot an even-par 72, including a 33 on the front nine, and finished in sixth place in the final standings.

Rounding out Butler's scoring team were junior Chris Spitler and sophomore Clif Cobb, both of whom shot 83, and sophomore Colin Quinn, who carded an 84. Cobb is in his first season with the Bulldogs, after playing on the Butler football team last year.

Other Butler players competing as non-scoring individuals in the opening tournament were freshman Frank Rizzi (75, tied for 15th), freshmen Michael Amore (76, tied for 19th), junior Justin Kime (79, tied for 32nd), and sophomore David Kleer (80, tied for 41st).

Kentucky Wesleyan won the team title with a score of 292, while Southern Illinois-Ewardsville finished runner-up with a team score of 299.
