Sophomore Kyle Thomas shot a two-over-par 144 to help Butler to a third place team standing after the first two rounds of the Butler Fall Invitational at Eagle Creek Golf Course on Monday, Oct. 1. The Bulldogs trail co-leaders Green Bay and Indianapolis by a single stroke heading into the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Thomas shot a two-over-par 73 in the morning round and then came back with an even-par 71 in the second round. His 36-hole total was good for a tie for fourth place in the individual standings.
Sophomore Isaac Mulvihill ended the first day one stroke behind Thomas and in a tie for seventh place. He shot a first round 72 and then closed with a 73. His brother, senior Abe Mulvihill, carded back-to-back rounds of 73, good for a tie for 11th place.
Among Butler's non-scoring individuals, freshman Ryan Wegeng turned in the best score card with rounds of 76 and 73, which was good for a tie for 15th place. Sophomore Thomas Pechin shot rounds of 80 and 74 (154, T33), junior Elliot Retzlaff posted scores of 78 and 79 (157, T38), sophomore Kevin Swanson carded rounds of 80 and 79 (159, T41) and senior Colin Quinn finished with scores of 86 and 85 (171, 49).
