Junior Will Turner tied for 24th place in the final individual standings and helped Butler to a tie for 11th place in the team standings at the 2004 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational held at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind., on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 4-5. Notre Dame won the 18-team golf invitational, while Miami (Ohio) finished runner-up.
Turner opened the tournament with a four-over-par 74 and then followed with an even par 70 to grab a tie for 14th place after the opening day. He closed with a 78 and finished among the top 25 individuals with a 54-hole total of 222. Turner was closely followed by teammate Abe Mulvihill, who shot rounds of even par 70, 77 and 76 to tie for 34th place at 223.
Rounding out Butler's five-man squad were freshman Colin Quinn, who tied for 65th with a three-round total of 231 (80-77-74), sophomore Justin Kime, who tied for 70th at 233 (79-71-83), and sophomore Chris Spitler, who tied for 77th at 237 (75-84-78).
The Bulldogs will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 11-12, at the Morehead State Invitational in Morehead, Ky.
