Butler Places Tenth At The Greg Palmer Eagle Classic

Sophomore Chris Spitler shot a final round, even-par 72 to pace the Butler men's golf team at the Greg Palmer Eagle Classic at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Morehead, Ky., on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Butler wound up tenth in the 11-team tournament, which was won by IUPUI.

Spitler, who carded rounds of one-over-par 73 and 78 on the first day of the meet, wound up tied for 16th in the final individual standings with a 54-hole total of 223. He trailed individual champs Derek Bolling of IUPUI and Matt Gann of Morehead State by nine strokes.

The Bulldogs only had one other golfer finish in the Top 50. Freshman Colin Quinn tied for 36th place with round of 76, 77 and 77. Quinn joined Spitler as the lone Bulldogs to break 80 on the final day.

Junior Will Turner and sophomore Justin Kime tied for 51st place in the tournament with final scores of 237. Turner shot rounds of 74, 80 and 83, while Kime came in with rounds of 75, 78 and 84. Freshman Abe Mulvihill was Butler's fifth finisher with a score 240 (83-73-84).
