Bulldogs Place Seventh At the IPFW Fall Classic

Butler junior Abe Mulvihill shot a three-under-par 68 in the second round and wound up tied for sixth place in the final individual standings at the IPFW Fall Classic, held at Deer Track Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Monday, Oct. 16. Butler finished seventh as a team in the tournament, which was called after one day because of heavy rain and unplayable conditions.

Mulvihill opened the tournament with a two-over-par 73, before coming back with his sub-par round in the afternoon session. His two-round total of 141 placed him in a six-way tie for sixth place. He tied for seventh in the tournament with eight total birdies, and he wound up even in par four scoring, which placed him in a tie for sixth.

Freshman Issac Mulvihill tied for 32nd in the meet with rounds of 72 and 76, while freshman Kyle Thomas tied for 35th with scores of 74 and 75. Junior Michael Amore carded rounds of 79 and 73 to tied for 42nd place, while senior Chris Spitler finished 54th with scores of 85 and 78.

Butler's Justin Kime shot rounds of 74 and 79 and tied for 45th place as a non-scoring individual.

Detroit, paced by medalist David Byrne (65-70, 135), captured the team title with a 36-hole score of 560, while Oakland and Loyola tied for second at 570. IPFW (572) came in fourth, followed by IUPUI (578), UW-Green Bay (580), Butler (590) and Bradley (597).
