Bulldogs Place Fifth At IPFW Fall Classic

Senior Will Turner placed among the Top 15 individuals and helped Butler to a fifth place team finish at the IPFW Fall Classic held on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 17-18. Loyola won a playoff with Oakland to take the team title in the seven-team tournament.
Turner shot an opening round, one-under-par 70 and then finished with rounds of one-over-par 72 and two-over-par 73. His 54-hole total of two-over-par 215 was good for a tie for 12th place in the final individual standings.
Sophomore Michael Poteracki tied for 21st in the final standings with rounds of 73, 70 and 76. Sophomore Abe Mulvihill (73-68-81) and freshman Kevin Sasena (74-76-72) tied for 29th with 54-hole totals of 222, while freshman Frank Rizzi placed 45th with a total score of 235 (73-78-84). Mulvihill's three-under-par 68 tied the third-best, second round score in the tournament.
Turner, Poteracki and Rizzi each recorded an eagle in the meet. Mulvihill was among the tournament leaders in birdies with 11.
Sean Bidzinski of Loyola captured medalist honors with an eight-under-par 205. He shot the tournament's best single round with a six-under-par 65 in the second round.
