Tietjen Named GWLL Player of the Week

March 16, 2004
Junior Kyle Tietjen's six-goal performance against Yale and netting the game-winner in double overtime versus Sacred Heart has earned the Garden City, N.Y., native Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) "Player of the Week" honors.
"Kyle has really taken on some offensive responsibilities for us so far this season," said coach Craig Kahoun. "He's had an outstanding start to the season and we look forward to him continuing to improve throughout the season."
The attackman has registered 11 goals in his last three games and has posted 16 goals and five assists in the Bulldogs' six contests in 2004. He's found the net in every outing this season.
Tietjen is the first Bulldog to receive the honor this season. His six goals against Yale Wednesday were one shy of the school record, while his eight points against VMI March 6 were two short of Butler's single-game mark.
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's 1 p.m. faceoff at Varsity Field against Wheeling Jesuit with a record of 4-2.
