The Bulldogs finished runner-up in the Horizon League regular season race and became the first team since 2003 to complete the league season with an unbeaten (5-0-3) record. Butler's 13 total wins were the most by any Horizon League team in 2008 and the Bulldogs' five league wins were the most by a Butler team since 2004. The Bulldogs, who captured a championship at the season-opening Louisville Tournament, compiled an eight-match unbeaten streak and a four-match winning streak during 2008.
