Butler Adds Six Mens Soccer Recruits
Butler men’s soccer coach Kelly Findley wrapped up his
2010-11 recruiting class with the signing of six talented
prospects. The class of Butler newcomers includes three
players with national championship credentials and two players with
high school state championship rings.
Set to join the Bulldogs next fall are Austin Oldham of Greenwood,
Adekunle Oluyedun of Westfield, Jamie Vollmer of Westfield, Adam
Glanzer of Harrisburg, S.D., Andy Holte of Iowa City, Iowa, and
Adam Tormoehlen of Highland Ranch, Colo. Oldham, Oluyedun and
Vollmer each played for USSF Academy National Champion Carmel
United. Glanzer and Holte each played on high school state
championship teams, while Tormoehlen was an all-state performer in
Colorado.
“We are very excited about this group of incoming
players,” said Findley. “Each of them brings a
high level of talent and great character to our program, as well as
a history of success coupled with the determination to achieve
excellence.”
“Butler has a rich tradition of academic and athletic
excellence, and, because of that, we recruit character and
integrity, not just talented athletes, and each of these players
fits that profile,” continued the Butler coach.
“We expect this group of players to help our program continue
to achieve excellence and success on and off of the
field.”
Oldham, a forward, helped Carmel United to USSF Academy national
championships in 2008 and 2009. He was named to the USSF
Academy Team Starting XI and the USSF Academy Great Lakes
Conference Starting XI in 2008. He was on the U17 U.S.
National Team in 2008, the Region II ODP Regional Team, 2006-08,
and the Indiana ODP Team, 2005-08.
Oluyedun helped Shattuck St. Mary’s to the 2009 U.S. Club
National Finals, a 2009 U.S. Club Regional Championship and a 2009
Disney Showcase title. The standout midfielder was a member
of 2008 USSF Academy Conference and National Champion Carmel
United, and he was on the ODP Region II Team and the Indiana ODP
Team in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Vollmer is a two-time All-State performer and three-time
All-Hamilton County pick as a defender. He earned
all-conference and all-district recognition in both 2008 and 2009
and All-Indy North honors in 2009. In 2009, he was named
Noblesville Ledger Player of the Year. A two-time Academic
All-State performer, Vollmer helped Carmel United to USSF Academy
national championships in 2008 and 2009. He was a member of
the ODP Indiana State Team in 2006 and 2007.
Glanzer, a midfielder and two-time first team All-State performer,
helped Harrisburg High School to the South Dakota Class A state
title in 2006 and played on State Cup championship teams,
2003-07. He was a team captain for Shattuck St. Mary’s,
helping lead the team to a U.S. Club regional title, the U.S. Club
National Finals and a Disney Showcase Championship in 2009.
The Shattuck St. Mary’s Newcomer of the Year in 2008, Glanzer
played on ODP state teams in both Kentucky and South Dakota.
Holte was a starting goalkeeper on Iowa City’s state
championship team in 2009 and state runner-up squad in 2007.
He helped Eastern Iowa United to three State Cup championships
(2007-09) and the USYSA Region II Semi-Finals. He was on the
Region II ODP Regional Team for three years (2007-09) and the ODP
Region Team Interregional All-Star team in 2009. Holte played
on the Iowa ODP State Team, 2004-09.
Tormoehlen, a midfielder, earned first team All-State recognition
in Colorado in 2009. He was first team All-Colorado, first
team All-Centennial League and a team captain in 2009, and
he’s a two-time Academic All-State pick. Tormoehlen
helped Real Colorado to the USSF Academy National Finals in 2008
and 2009 and a USSF Academy Western Conference Championship in
2008. He served as team captain for Real Colorado in
2009.
Butler is coming off one of the most successful men’s soccer
seasons in school history. The Bulldogs posted a 14-3-2
record, a regular season championship in the Horizon League, a
“Top 25” national ranking and a berth in the NCAA
Tournament in 2009. Butler, ranked as high as No. 17 in the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll,
advanced to the championship game of Horizon League Tournament,
where they wound up with a 0-0 tie against Green Bay. The
team’s 14 wins matched the third-highest victory total in
Butler men’s soccer history.
