Butler Players Headed To Youth Soccer Nationals
Butler sophomore Tyler Pollock and incoming freshmen Adam
Glanzer, Ade Oluyedun and Joel Zimmerly have earned the opportunity
to play for a national title at the U. S. Youth Soccer National
Championships in Overland Park, Kansas, July 20-25. The four
helped their club teams capture Region II championships on June
30.
Pollock, a starting forward on Butler’s Horizon League
championship squad last fall, helped the Columbus (OH) Crew Juniors
to a 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Wizards in the Regional II
U19 title game. The match was tied at 2-2 at the end of
regulation play, but the Crew Juniors prevailed in overtime.
Glanzer, Oluyedun and Zimmerly earned their trip to the nationals
by helping Shattuck-St. Mary’s (Minn.) to a 4-2 victory over
Javanon 92 (Ky.) in the Region II U18 championship game.
Javanon 92 had entered the match as a two-time regional
champion.
Champions from the four U.S. Youth Soccer regions will gather at
the Overland Park Soccer Complex and begin round-robin play on July
21. The national championship matches will be held July
24-25.
