Bulldogs Fall At Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, OHIO -- Two second-half goals lifted host Bowling
Green to a 2-1 victory over Butler in a men’s soccer
exhibition match on Sunday (Aug. 21). The contest wrapped up
Butler’s preseason exhibition slate.
The Bulldogs, playing their second match under first-year head
coach Paul Snape, grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the first half.
Junior Blake Leyden played the ball off a corner kick and fired a
shot to the near post from 20-yards out to break a scoreless
deadlock and give Butler a 1-0 halftime advantage.
Bowling Green responded in the second half and picked up the win
behind a pair of goals by Colin Armstrong.
“The second half was disappointing in that we gave up the two
goals,” said Snape. “We lost our rhythm.
But there were some positives from the match. We had some
guys come in give us some good minutes, and we have a better
understanding of where we are going into the
season-opener.”
Butler will begin the 2011 campaign at home against Bradley on
Friday, August 26. The match at the Butler Bowl will start at
5:30 p.m.
