PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Butler wound up with a pair of All-Conference players when the BIG EAST announced it's 2013 men's soccer awards on Thursday (Nov. 14). Freshman David Goldsmith was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and was selected to both the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team and the All-Conference second team. Junior Zach Steinberger was named first team All-Conference.

Goldsmith leads the Bulldogs in minutes, goals and points. His 12 goals on the season lead the conference and tie him for 11th in the nation. The Bristol, England native was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week three times this season. His hat trick against Houston Baptist on September 9 and his two goals, the second of which won the game for Butler in double overtime, against defending national champion Indiana highlight a superb season.

Steinberger was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week once this season and was also named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll once. His six goals on the season rank second on the team, as do his 16 total points. His two goals against Villanova on September 28 helped give Butler their first conference win this season.

The Bulldogs, seeded sixth, face No. 2 seed Marquette in the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Friday in Philadelphia. The game kicks at 8:30 p.m. from PPL Park and will be streamed live on Visit for more details.
