The men's soccer team played 110 minutes of soccer on Friday night and came away with a 0-0 tie in the Western Kentucky Tournament in Bowling Green, Ky, and with Friday's result, the Bulldogs season record now stands at 2-0-1
Butler and host Western Kentucky were nearly tied in shot and saves as WKU outshot the Bulldogs 12-9 in regulation but the Bulldogs recorded four saves to the Hilltoppers three.
And even though Western Kentucky continued to add to its shot total in the two overtime periods, Fabian Knopfler continued to pick up saves for the Bulldogs to preserve the 0-0 deadlock.
The Hilltoppers outshot Butler 5-2 in the two overtime periods but the Bulldog defense held strong and came away from the match with the tie.
Six different Butler strikers recorded shots in the contest but only one, Boris Gatzky, had more than one shot with his three attempts to break the tie.
The Bulldogs finish the Western Kentucky Tournament on Sunday when they matchup against Appalachian State at noon.
