Sophomore Scott Olsen had a career-high shot performance and scored his first goal of the season to lead Butler to a 1-0 victory over host IPFW at a wet Hefner Soccer Field in Fort Wayne on Sunday (Sept. 14). The win was Butler's second straight and lifted the Bulldogs to 2-1-1, while IPFW fell to 3-3.
Olsen had eight shots in the match, which nearly doubled his previous season total. He gave the Bulldogs the only goal they needed off a rebound with 24:30 gone in the match. The unassisted goal was the sixth of his career.
The Bulldogs launched a relentless attack on IPFW goalkeeper Peter Hachaj, but couldn't muster another score. Butler had 20 shots in the match, including 11 in the first half. Hachaj finished the contest with five saves, and the Mastodons added two teams saves.
Butler goalkeeper Evan Reinhardt faced nine IPFW shots and recorded two saves in the match. He posted his second shutout of the season and boosted his record to 2-1-1.
Butler will continue its stretch of road contests with a match against Louisville in Lexington, Ky., on Friday, Sept. 19.
