Junior forward Antou Jallow scored the lone goal of the match midway through the first half to lead visiting UW-Milwaukee to a 1-0 victory over Butler in a Horizon League contest played at Varsity Field on Sunday (Oct. 12). The win boosted UWM to 10-4 on the year and 4-0 in league play, while Butler slipped to 5-6-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the Horizon League.
Jallow ended a scoreless tie at 21:06 when he knocked a header past Butler goalkeeper Evan Reinhardt from eight yards away. Trent Furtsch served the ball to Jallow on a free kick. The goal was Jallow's sixth of the season.
Butler's best scoring opportunity came with just over a minute remaining in the first half when sophomore Scott Olsen broke loose for a one-on-one situation with UWM goalkeeper Kirk Thode. Olsen tried to slip a shot into the right side of the net, but the shot narrowly missed to the right of the post.
The Panthers out-shot Butler, 10-3, but Reinhardt kept the match close with five saves. Sophomore Casey Jewett had Butler's lone shot in the second half, but Thode stopped the attempt.
Butler continues Horizon League play on Friday, Oct. 17, with a match at Loyola. The Bulldogs return to Varsity Field for a league test against Wright State on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m.
