Bulldogs Fall To Wright State In Overtime, 2-1

Lucas Brewer's shot was deflected into the goal with two minutes remaining in the first overtime period to give host Wright State to a 2-1, Horizon League victory over Butler in Fairborn, Ohio, on Sunday, Oct. 27. The victory lifted the Raiders to 7-9-1 on the season and 4-3 in league play, while the Bulldogs fell to 8-8-3 overall and 4-2 in conference action.

Brewer's game-winning goal came on a shot that was deflected off of a Butler defender and into the net. The two teams were tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation. The Raiders out-shot the Bulldogs in the overtime period, 4-1.

Wright State's Ricky Strong scored the first goal of the game at the 32:40 mark. Strong blasted a shot past Butler goalkeeper Grant Barrie after he received the ball from teammate Brent Zoller. The goal was Strong's tenth of the season.

The Bulldogs tied the game with 17 minutes left in regulation when Andrew Pancio fed a pass to freshmen Scott Olsen, who knocked a shot past Wright State goalkeeper Jason Balach. It was Olsen's fourth goal of the season, and his second in Butler's last two matches. The assist was the fifth of the year by Pancio.

The Raiders put the pressure on the Bulldogs all game with a 16-9 edge in shots. Barrie recorded four saves in the match, while Balach finished with five.

Butler will finish the season on the road Friday, Nov. 1 against Horizon League leader, Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
