Kelly Findley Leads Indiana To Youth Soccer ODP National Championship

March 21, 2008

Frisco, Texas - Butler men's soccer head coach Kelly Findley put his mentoring capabilities on display on March 9, guiding the Indiana ODP Team back from a halftime deficit to win the Boys' National Championship, 3-2, over Virginia.

The win is the first ever national championship for a team from Indiana.

Trailing 2-1 at the break, the Hoosier squad rallied for the equalizer in the final minute of regulation before netting the winning mark in overtime.

"A lot of things went our way," Findley said. "We gave up the early goal and scored again within five minutes. They had a penalty kick that hit the post in overtime, so we had a lot of things go in our favor today.

"The guys really responded well to each other as a group. We showed a lot of character, not just to come back but to win it in overtime."
