MADISON, Wis. - Junior Brandon Bayliss won in straight sets at No. 4 singles and Butler picked up a doubles win but No. 32 Wisconsin defeated the Butler men's tennis team, 6-1, Saturday in Madison. The contest was BU's second of the season, with each match coming on the home court of a nationally-ranked Big Ten opponent.
Bayliss defeated UW's Chris Freeman 6-4, 6-4 in what was Butler's first dual point of the season. Junior Chris Herron and sophomore Zach Ervin rolled past Freeman and Patrick Pohlmann 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Junior Bryce Warren gave the Bulldogs' next best singles effort, taking five games in the first set vs. Pohlmann at No. 2 singles. Pohlmann would end up winning 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
Butler takes on Purdue Sunday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m.
