INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler men's tennis team claimed four of six singles matches and swept the doubles point as the Bulldogs defeated Xavier, 5-2, Tuesday evening at the Butler Tennis Bubble.
"This was a quality win over a good team," head coach Jason Suscha said. "We seem to be getting better each match at some details that lead to wins. Our energy is good and I like the direction this team his heading."
Senior Ben Raynauld and junior Bryce Warren led the way for BU (3-5). Raynauld won 6-4, 6-4 over Richard Canelas at No. 2 singles while Warren gutted out a three-set, come-from-behind win vs. Patrick Bandy at No. 3 singles. The duo combined for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Juniors Brandon Bayliss and Lenz Theodor also claimed singles wins as Butler improved to 2-1 at home this season.
The Bulldogs' next match is Saturday, Feb. 27 at Toledo.
