Match At Kentucky Serves As Tune-up For League Play

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Butler men's tennis team continued play in its tough schedule with a match at Kentucky. The contest served as a last tune-up before the Bulldogs begin Horizon League play at Detroit Saturday, March 19.

The match against Kentucky was another contest against a high-profile opponent for BU. The Bulldogs (3-10) have now faced Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Purdue, Illinois State, Drake and Kentucky.

Kentucky, led by nationally-ranked singles player Eric Quigley, battled to a 6-0 win over Butler. Doubles play wasn't played. Chris Herron led the Dawgs, battling in three sets at No. 2 singles. Herron won the first set in a tie-breaker 7-6 (3) and narrowly dropped the second set 7-5. UK's Grant Roberts pulled out the tie-break third set.

BU opens league play against Detroit Saturday, March 19. It will then have two weeks off before travling to Green Bay. The Bulldogs then conclude the regular season with seven straight home matches.
