Cardinals Beat Bulldogs, 6-1


INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Brandon Bayliss won a tight three-set match at No. 1 singles and Butler got a win at No. 2 doubles, but the Ball State Cardinals defeated the BU men's tennis team 6-1.

Bayliss, who has won six straight matches and nine of his last 10, defeated BSU's Dalton Albertin 6-1, 11-9 after losing the first set 6-3. Bayliss and senior Lenz Theodor combined to roll at No. 2 doubles, defeating Zane Smith and Derek Carpenter 8-4.

Butler has three matches remaining in the regular season. Valpo and UIC come to Butler April 16 and 17, respectively. The Bulldogs close the schedule vs. IUPUI Tuesday, April 19 before playing in the Horizon League Tennis Championships.
