The Butler men's tennis team continued its stretch against nationally-ranked competition this week, competing against #46 Indiana and #4 Ohio State. The Bulldogs lost both matches 7-0.
On Tuesday (Jan. 25) against Indiana, the Bulldogs gave a good showing before falling to the Hoosiers. Brandon Bayliss won his first set at No. 1 singles against IU's Jeremy Langer 6-3, but fell in a tough battle in three sets. Lenz Theodor was also very competitive at No. 4 singles, winning six games. Chris Herron won five games at No. 3 singles. In doubles play, BU's top two doubles teams fell 8-4.
The next day, Butler took on the fourth-ranked team in the nation, Ohio State. Herron had the most success, winning five games in his match at No. 3 singles. Theodor and Bayliss were competitive at No. 2 doubles before falling 8-4.
Butler (1-3) will continue a tough week against some of the nation's top teams when it at Illinois State Saturday, Jan. 29.
